I have a VPCCW17FX which came with Win 7 Home Premium. I did a clean new install of Win 7 Ultimate, as a result of which I lost the WinDVD player. Sony support was no help – they said I would have to downgrade to Home Prem to get them to give me the WinDVD software to play bluray. Will the above process work for me. Is the recovery partition the same as the ’system reserved’ part of the directory..any help/info would be appreciated.

The correct command is:
C:\>sc lock u

then, if possible, the system will ask you to press letter ‘u’ on
your keyboard to confirm that you want to unlock the services database
but it’s possible to receive the message

[SC] LockServiceDatabase FAILED 1055:
The service database is locked.

in this case you can just wait and retry.
If the problem persists you have to try identifying the
service that locks tha database in one of this 2 ways:

1) Examine system event logs for errors (database locked ..)
2) Set all unnecessary services to start “Manual” (do this
editing the registry), reboot and, if the problem does’nt happens,
try re-enabling services one by one to locate which one is causing
the problem.
