A couple of weeks ago I was chatting using Gmails' integrated chat feature. The other person then sent a bold formatted message, then I found it interesting. So I started Googlin' for more formatting options and found that you can actually type in bold, italics, and strikeout. Pretty neat huh?

So here's the formatting:

surrounding text with *, as *bold*, turns out bold

surrounding text with _, as _italics_, turns out italics

surrounding text with -, as -strikethrough-, turns out strikethrough.

I looked and looked for underline but never found it. If anyone knows how to, please comment.

Update: There's no way to underline in Gmail chat. Some say holding z, doesn't work.

Have you ever noticed that when using Firefox and opening many tabs, Firefox eats up a lot of RAM, well maybe its not true for people that have computers with 2 gigs of RAM. Anyway, here is a way to reduce considerably the use of RAM used by Firefox; when you minimize Firefox, it will free up some RAM, well, not some; A LOT.

Here it is:

Start by typing about:config on the address bar in Firefox. If in Firefox 3, click on the "Promise, I'll be careful" and promise you'll be careful.

Now right click anywhere inside the window and select New -> Boolean

In the box that appears copy and paste
config.trim_on_minimize
and press enter.

Then select True and then press enter.

Restart Firefox.

Now that you've done this, if you open up Task Manager and Firefox, try minimizing Firefox and see how much RAM is freed up. See for yourself!

Maybe you have heard about this little trick many times, but here it is again. This will enable you to use your Zune as a portable drive, actually it just shows your Zune in the Windows Explorer window and enables dragging and dropping and stuff, anyway here it is.

In this tweak you will need to use regedit, before you do this, be sure to know what you are doing

Make sure your Zune is not plugged in and your the software isn't running.

Open regedit, to do this, click start -> run, then type regedit and press enter.

Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\ControlSet001\Enum\USB\

Search for "PortableDeviceNameSpace". This should be contained under the Vid_####&Pid_####\########_-_########_-_########_-_########\Device Parameters within the above ...\USB\ The ##'s listed here will be numbers and letters specific to your Zune.

Change the following values: * EnableLegacySupport to 1 * PortableDeviceNameSpaceExcludeFromShell to 0 * ShowInShell to 1

Hopefully at this point you can open up "My Computer" and browse your device, though it does NOT show up as a drive letter. You may need to restart your computer.
Now you can access it as a hard-drive and sync it with the software.

If you are using dial-up, don't bother checking this post. But for Broadband users, this really works!

Straight to the steps;

Before you do this, be sure that you know what you are doing.

Type "about:config" without quotes on the adress bar and hit enter. If you are using Firefox 3, click on the "I'll be careful, I promise!" button. And Promise you'll be careful.

Next, on the filter, search for:

"network.http.pipelining", double click it, and change the value to 'true'
"network.http.proxy.pipelining", double click it and change its value to 'true'
then set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 40. Now it will make 40 requests at once.

Now right click anywhere inside the page and select new -> integer, and name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set the value to 0.

How it works? Normally the browser makes one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it makes several requests at once, which really helps pages load much faster.
